The wonderful cover of our wonderful first issue. It’s kinda wonky, but definitely fish (just like me)

It’s 57k words and it’s pretty good.

A few notes:

  • Trans feminist writers with spines rarely get treated well. A lot of the women have written with pseudonyms. If you think you know who they are, don’t be stupid.
  • Same goes for the editor.
  • Please don’t digitise this and put it online.
  • Donors who requested copies and contributors due copies: I posted them this week.
  • I’m away for a few days so I won’t post your order until the 12th. Our submissions are open for issue 2!

Finally, many of your friends and milieu may be unhappy to see this book on your shelves. You may, in a kneejerk, wish to put down a particular writer, piece, or the endeavour itself. Part of the point of bringing these uncomfortable questions to your lap is to ask you to take stock of that, and identify the ideological terrain in your life from that. I hope I have, using all the tools at my disposal* made a little package where it feels safe to ask such questions. I hope also, that I have managed to do the same in my life, that the loving part of this is obvious, and that the women with good eyes, who can tell me where I have my hackles up, where I am being a reactionary, write in.

Much love,

Editor xoxo

*To be a little more explicit: the use of pseudonyms, the use of a pseudonymous editor, barring of visual media for the first issue, focus on written media, much verbal signalling, a house style which discourages quotation, various visual identity decisions including dithering, not releasing a digital issue, not releasing a paid-to-read blog, not allowing scans, publications schedule, insisting that booksellers and librarians file it under women’s studies or similar rather than LGBTQ+, etc.
